How to Obtain Tax Number in Turkey?

There are two ways to obtain it:

1. Obtaining it from the tax department:

By heading to the closest tax department in the area with a passport photocopy and any document that proves the residence address such as (utility bill, residence statement, rent contract), afterwards an appointment should be reserved, and a tax number application should be filled, and within minutes the tax number will be obtained after providing the mentioned documents.

The paper provided by the tax department employee that contains the tax number should be kept and provided when necessary to complete procedures in Turkey.

2. Obtaining tax number through the internet:

- First you should go to this (website ).

- Then you should click on the option that says (tax ID number for foreigners) which means the tax number.

- Then you should fill the following fields:

- Name:

- Surname:

- Gender:

- Mother name:

- Father name:

- Birth date:

- The code of the home country (just mention your country name)

- Phone number:

- Address:

- Passport number:

- Passport issue date:

- Passport expiry date:

- After that enter the confirmation code in the last field.

- Finally, click on yes.

After that your tax number will be sent to you by tax department website in Turkey through a text message to your phone number, keep these messages because it shows your tax number which you will need in many Turkish transactions.

How to Retrieve Your Tax Number:

In case you lost your tax number you can retrieve it easily through the website mentioned above:

- Under the tax number obtain option there are two small words, click on the one that says (confirm).

- A new window will pop up asking you to fill out the following information:

- Passport number.

- Your country.

- Birth date.

- After filling the fields above, click on the blue rectangle saying (enquiry), after that your tax number information will show up, write it down on a new paper and keep it.

Who is Entitled to Obtain Tax Number in Turkey?

1. Those with short-term residence permits such as (Tourist residence permit, real estate, study, and family permits).

2. Residents with work permit in Turkey.

3. Residents with long-term permits.

4. Syrians with temporary protection IDs in Turkey, provided they have a passport.

5. Those with humanitarian asylum in Turkey.

Who is Not Entitled to Obtain a Tax Number in Turkey?

1. All illegal residents.

2. Who does not have a statement proving their detailed residence address.

Things to Consider About Obtaining a Tax Number:

1. You should be able to speak one of the two languages, English or Turkish, in order to obtain your tax number.

2. When entering your information, they should be identical to the information written in your passport.

3. Make sure to enter your detailed address like it is written in the utility bill or your rent contract.

4. Do not share your tax number with untrusted parties.

5. Some thinks that by obtaining the residence permit that they do not need a tax number, that is wrong as these are two different number.
